On Saturday, 15th November, 15 former members of the Young Christian Students (YCS) and Young Christian Workers (YCW) gathered at the Family Centre following the 6:00 p.m. Mass at St. Augustine’s. This special gathering was not only a time to reconnect and reminisce—it was also a celebration of the centenary of the YCW movement.

The evening began with a shared supper, where stories flowed freely and memories of friendship, service, and faith were rekindled. The sense of community and purpose that defined the YCS/YCW experience was palpable throughout the night.

During Mass, Fr. Roderick delivered a heartfelt reflection on his time in the YCW, sharing how the movement profoundly shaped his life and ministry across various parishes. His words served as a powerful reminder of the enduring legacy of Joseph Cardijn’s vision and the transformative impact of the See–Judge–Act method.

A warm thank you to Mark Ager and Fran Renshaw for organising the event and coordinating the preparation and clean-up. Sincere thanks are also extended to all who attended and contributed to the spirit of the evening, honouring 100 years of YCW and the lives it continues to inspire.
