Cardijn Community Australia, in collaboration with the Australian Cardijn Institute, invites you to a special Study Day commemorating the 60th anniversary of Vatican II—a Council that reshaped the Church’s understanding of the role of lay people.
Why This Matters
Vatican II was revolutionary in affirming the lay apostolate—the mission and vocation of lay people in the Church and the world.
Documents such as Lumen Gentium, Apostolicam Actuositatem, and Gaudium et Spes laid the foundation for lay engagement in marriage and family, culture, economics, politics, peace, and global solidarity.
This Study Day will:
- Reflect on the development of the lay apostolate in Adelaide
- Honour the legacy of Cardinal Joseph Cardijn, founder of the YCW
- Explore how lay people are called to build a synodal Church
- Equip participants to live their baptismal call in today’s world
