Perth, 5 September 2025 — Cardijn Community Australia (CCA) joyfully celebrates the canonisation of Pier Giorgio Frassati, a young lay Catholic whose life of faith, friendship, and fearless action continues to inspire youth across the globe.
Canonised on 7 September 2025, Pier Giorgio was deeply involved in the International Movement of Catholic Students (IMCS) and Pax Romana, where he lived out the call to transform society through the lens of Catholic social teaching. His life was a living example of the See-Judge-Act method—first developed by Joseph Cardijn—which remains central to youth movements based on spirituality in action worldwide.
“Pier Giorgio’s canonisation is a call to young people everywhere to live boldly and compassionately,” said Greg Lopez, spokesperson for CCA and lay male chaplain for IMCS Asia-Pacific. “He showed that holiness is not distant or passive—it’s active, joyful, and rooted in solidarity with the poor and marginalised.”
